Job hunting is as easy as ABC!
Sunday is job hunt day in our local newspapers. Take a look at any of the major dailies on a Sunday and you will see an entire section dedicated to job seekers.
But, these are plain names and contact numbers, without assurance if they are legitimate companies.
The internet, meanwhile, gives you an alternative. Company websites or social media community pages can, most often than not, determine whether the company does exist.
So, how do you actually start job hunting? Let us count the ways:
- Assess your skills. Most new graduates are in it for the experience, thus applying for any job. Treat yourself as a brand. Know your strengths. You will never go wrong with the things that you really are good at.
- Build your network. Now is the time to use social media at your advantage. Whether you are a fresh graduate or considering a career change, let your friends know that you are looking for a job. Remember to mention the best skills you possess so that they would know where to refer you. One of the best ways to build a network is to attend job fairs.
- Craft your best resume. Your resume is your product. Test run it, make sure it has all the necessary information and updated details. Tailor-fit each resume for a certain company and certain skill they might be looking for. Be specific in what you want.
